I sometimes see a painting from either a famous painter or in a house design magazine that catches my attention and it makes me want to reproduce it to have for me.  This is one of those paintings that I saw in a magazine and just had to have it.   I don't know who the original artist was so I can't give the credit where it's due but I have to say that it really speaks to me.

Majestic Trees

My father took this picture this summer when we were in St. Remy at the Chateau des Alpilles.  They have beautiful grounds and I thought the trees looked so grand and beautiful.

This is my submission to the Dailypaintworks Challenge for this week:  "The Seated Figure".  I had this picture of my nephew which I've been wanting to paint.  I found his pose interesting and I love the sun shining through the trees to the ground all around him.

This is Kurt at the wedding we were at this summer. He didn't know someone was taking a picture at the time so he has this thoughtful expression that I don't see often in pictures. I love painting portraits, of course there's nothing easy about painting a person, I just love trying to capture the expressions.

After doing all these lavender fields, I decided to change it up and do a still life. I like the different color options and combinations with still lifes.

We were in Provence this summer for my step-sister's wedding and I made my family take many detours to find the lavender fields. At first, we saw only little trickles of them and then we came upon this road where lavender fields were all around us. We stopped the cars and took pictures and let the kids run in the fields. It smelled so good and it was such a beautiful sight, I'll never forget it. This painting is from one of the pictures I took, I'll have a few more coming hopefully!
