Final Day of Portrait Class and my Monet!

I finished the portrait in class today! I'm very happy with how it turned out and was satisfied with my first portrait class at the Academy. I can't wait until the next one! Below, I took a picture of the drawing with the model although the light is kind of bright but I thought it would be interesting to see the two together.

I finished the Monet painting for Painting from the Masters. It really looks easier than it is because of all the fog...I actually found it quite hard to paint but certainly learned a lot and that's the point!

  1. Great posting. Love the portrait....can almost see you learning. And painting from the masters is a great workout.....one I have not yet attempted. Good job.

  3. Great job on both the portrait and the Monet copy!! You've captured his expression and features so well ! I love your version of Monet's painting, your brushwork is very much impressionism!

  4. Your portrait is very accomplished, Karen! It has such a soft quality to it, and I love the way you have left part of it undone. You captured the light beautifully. Your Monet is colorful, energetic and delightfully rendered. Love the colors and atmosphere.

  5. Karen, I really like your Monet...especially the color harmony and suggested movement of the river Thames.
